Transcript of help video

Here is the transcript formatted into a clear, step-by-step guide for Debbie:

Hi Tracy,

Here is a quick summary of the video tutorial to show you the basics of editing your website.

1. Logging In and Navigation

  1. Go to the URL provided in your email.
  2. Enter your username and password, then click Sign In.
  3. On the left-hand side, you will see your menu options: Home, Pages, Galleries, Posts, and Media. (Note: I’ve turned just these ones on to keep things simple for now).

2. Editing Pages

You can edit pages directly from the dashboard, but visual editing is often easier.

Visual Editing:

  1. Click the name of the website in your dashboard. This will open your live website, and you will notice small editing markers appear around the content.
  2. Navigate to the page you want to update (e.g., the About page) and click the pencil marker next to the section you want to change.
  3. This opens a standard WYSIWYG ("What You See Is What You Get") editor where you can type your changes directly.
  4. To add an image: Click the Image button > Browse Files > select your image > click Save. You can resize the image as needed, then click Save Changes.
  5. Click Back to the website to return to your page and see the changes instantly.
Dashboard Editing:
Alternatively, you can click Pages on the left-hand menu, select the page you'd like to edit, and choose the specific section.

3. Editing Posts (Updates & Articles)

Your articles are currently categorized under "Updates".

  • Making edits: Click the editing marker next to any article (you can do this right from the Home page or the Updates page).
  • Formatting text: Inside the editor, you can highlight text and change it into a heading. Click Save, then Back to the website to view the change.
  • Updating categories: While editing an article, you can easily add it to additional categories (e.g., adding it to Newsas well as Legislation). Click Save Changes, and it will instantly update across the site.

4. Editing Galleries

  1. Go to a gallery on your live site (like the one on the Home page) and click Edit Gallery. This will show you all the images currently in that gallery.
  2. To swap an image, click Choose from Media and select your new picture (e.g., the fish or the echidna).
  3. Click Save, then Back to the website to see the newly updated gallery.

5. Getting More Help

If you ever get stuck, look for the Help and Docs section at the bottom of your screen. Clicking it will open a new window with a whole heap of information on the basics of editing content, adding images, and viewing page history.

Have a read through there, and let me know how you go!
